Statement of Faith

We believe:

The Calvary Chapel Church has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the body of Christ. We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

• We Believe: worship of God should be Spiritual. Therefore: We remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our worship

• We Believe: worship of God should be Inspirational. Therefore: We give a great place to music in our worship

• We Believe: worship of God should be Intelligent. Therefore: Our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped

• We Believe: worship of God is Fruitful. Therefore: We look for His Love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping Him

  1. There is only one true, transcendent, personal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, holy God eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; John 4:24; John 14:6-13; Gal. 4:6; 2 Pet. 1:17; Psalm 2:7 ff.; Is. 7:14; John 1:1-18; Heb. 1:8; Psalm 51:11; 1 John 4:13; Acts 5:3,4)
  2. The Bible is the infallible Word of God, is inerrant in the original writings, is the final and complete revelation of God to humanity, is our final authority, and is trustworthy for faith and practice when interpreted responsibly under the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit within the community of faith. (Deut. 4:1-2; 2 Tim. 2:15, 3:16-17)
  3. God created humankind in His image. Through Adam’s fall, all people became sinful, lost, and condemned. Every human being by deliberate choice participates in sin and is in need of redemption through Christ’s death and bodily resurrection. (Gen. 1:26-30; Eph. 2:1-22;Rom.1:19-32, 5:12-21)
  4. Jesus Christ is God’s Son, fully divine and fully human, the eternal and pre-existent Word, and creator of all that exists. We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, worked miracles, died on the cross willingly to pay the penalty for all sin, rose again bodily from the grave, ascended physically into heaven, and will physically come again in the future. (Heb. 1:1-3, 4:14-15; John 1:1-3,14)
  5. God offers forgiveness of sin and justification through faith in Christ Jesus alone apart from works. Human individuals receive such redemption as God’s gift upon repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ, enabling them to participate in Christ’s reign as a present reality and a future hope. (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Eph. 2:8-22; 1 John 1:6-2:11)
  6. God the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers in Jesus Christ, enabling and empowering them to live holy lives, conquer sin and witness to others. We believe that all of the Biblical gifts of the Spirit are in use today, and must be exercised in biblical order under the control of the Holy Spirit in such a way as to glorify Christ.
  7. The Church is not a building or an institution, but instead is a community of faith consisting of regenerated believers with Christ as Lord. Such believers claim a personal relationship to God through Jesus Christ, follow the Lord in believer’s baptism by immersion (unless physically unable), share in the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion), gather regularly for worship, covenant for mutual edification and care-giving, and carry on the work of the ministry. We believe that God laid upon His church the task of proclaiming to the lost world the need for repentance from sin, the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior from sin, and the enthroning of Him as Lord. We recognize no spiritual distinction or social preference of persons of differing national origins, race, or economic status. (Matt. 16:15-19;Rom.10:9-10; Acts 16:30-33; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; Eph. 1:22-23; Eph, 4; Heb. 10:23-25)
  8. The Church is called in loyalty to Jesus Christ to proclaim in the power of the Holy Spirit the Good News of God’s reconciling grace, inviting persons to receive salvation and follow Christ as His disciples. (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Gal. 3:26-28; James 1:27, 2:8)
  9. Jesus Christ will return visibly, will raise the dead, and judge all people. Believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God as they participate in the fullness of His eternal reign, while unbelievers will suffer eternal separation from God. (Matt. 24:29-31, 25:31-46; 1 Thess. 4:14-18; Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15)
  10. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their overemphasis of doctrinal differences that have led to division in the Body of Christ.
  11. We seek to worship God in Spirit and in truth, and we look for God’s love in our lives as evidence that we have truly been worshipping Him, and without which we have no right to call ourselves followers of Christ.
  12. We believe that church government should be simple and uncomplicated.
