Pastor Scott Gurwell

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

—Galatians 2:20

Scott Gurwell is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Liberty, Missouri.
He has been serving the Lord for over 30 years, Scott began his journey at Calvary Chapel Downey, California.  His pastor Jeff Johnson encouraged him to begin pastoral studies at Calvary Chapel School of the Word, from there the Lord led him to continue studying full time at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Twin Peaks which is located in the San Bernardino Mountains of California.
Scott has been in full time ministry since 1995 as the Lord led him to the Midwest to be a part of a Calvary Chapel church plant in Saint Joseph, Missouri, where he served for eight years.  Some of his duties there were Children’s Ministry Director, Facility Supervisor and Bible College Director.  From there the Lord led Scott to Liberty, Missouri where he currently serves as Senior Pastor/Teacher and Bible Expositor. The emphasis within his ministry is a verse by verse study of the Word of God, giving its full counsel. His studies pay particular attention to the practical application, contemporary examples, and incorporation of the Word into our daily lives. As a result, his studies are extremely interesting, informative, and spiritually challenging. His influence has experienced a steady growth over the years with people of all ages and through a variety of settings.
Under the ministry of Scott Gurwell, Calvary Chapel Liberty has continued to grow and be a light in the community offering Teaching seminars, Bible classes, home studies, various training programs and mission outreaches.
His teachings are now being heard here as well as on podcast and on the radio program “Liberty Road.”
